SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. It measures how much cooling an air conditioner delivers for each unit of electricity consumed. The higher the SEER number, the more efficient the unit and the less electricity it uses. Since 2023, new equipment sold in Florida is rated under the updated SEER2 standard, though SEER remains a useful reference when comparing systems.
